Hello, new from southern California

Hi there!
We are new to the chicken world but hoping to build our first coop by this Summer. I love this forum - so much info!! We are in a coastal suburban town north of San Diego and have two small children and a hubby that can't wait to get our chickens. I am sure I will be posting a lot of questions in the design folder in the coming weeks as I try to finalize a building plan. I used to be a designer in the architectural field pre-kids so I am hoping some of this will help me as I figure out what will work best for us. I am overwhelmed by all the different designs and would love some direction on where to find the basic of basic requirements and dimensions. Any book recs or must-read websites?
