Hi everyone, I am new here, and new to having chickens too.
I am a city girl who married a country boy. We live in town with our four kids.
Last spring our daughters class was hatching chicks and I decided I wanted to take a few home to raise for fun and some egg. Hubby said ok and made me a pretty red chicken coop (for the chickens not for me
)
We took two home (hoping for girls) well we got one boy and one girl. They are half turkens and half something else, I though they might be homely, but they are actually pretty. The backs of their necks are bare but the fronts have feathers, they look like they are wearing ascots around their necks!
our girl just started laying this week, and has layed three eggs in four days! We recently got two cuckoo marans, and two well summers. One of the well summers died about two weeks after we got them.
But the others are doing well and getting big so I just moved them outside today!
I'm glad to be here, I'm sure I'll learn alot here!
