(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Yes, new to chickens! Hence why I am now apart of this group. Sorry now for all the questions to come. 🙃 We got our chicks about 3 weeks ago. So we’re just starting our flock of chickies.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

We have 8 chicks. My limit was 4, but somehow they kept multiplying by 2 for a quick minute.

(3) What breeds do you have?

Sapphire Gem, Barred Rock, Silkies, assorted Bantams- questions for later!

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Honestly right, now my pocket chicken, Poppy. Everything else is a bit overwhelming once I started joining groups and following pages.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Watching my kids activities and hobbies, reading, used to game when I had time.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

We have 3 kids and are always busy with something. Lol Our dog is named Coolio and the cat named Luna. She’s actually quite terrifying. I work in health care. I’ve been wanting chickens for years and I finally just went and bought them! Now I’m deep diving into the life of chickens. If you’re the punctuation police, you’ll probably not want to follow my posts or do- just know I suck at writing. I still need all the advice! But warnings have been given!

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

Um, not even an hour. Haha But I found BYC when trying to figure out what my Bantams’ breed is and if I could figure out the chicks’ sex. I’m impatient. 😬 I joined because all the posts seem helpful and I haven’t read any hateful comments, which is nice!

Looking forward to future posts and comments!

All bantams?
did you ask in another thread what breeds? With proper photos of course. Some cracks are good in that.

If the chicks are 3 weeks old , it’s too soon to see the gender for most breeds.

Welcome to BYC, im basically new myself but this is a wonderful site with wonderful people! Hope you have a good time with your flock!:welcome:highfive:

Great introduction, nice variety of breeds, another instant victim of chicken math (happened to me, too, right from the first), and I loved that your cat is terrifying! That made me laugh out loud.

No need to be concerned about grammar or punctuation; we don't need to judge you like we're English teachers. Folks here just want to be supportive and help when you need us, celebrate your successes and cheer you on when you face challenges or disappointments.

Welcome to BYC; I hope all your questions get answers!

:welcome

Hi, it's nice to meet you! If you post individual, close up, full body photos on this forum you may get some help with identifying your birds:
What Breed or Gender is This
They will be easier to identify if they are 6 weeks of age or older.

Best wishes with your new flock!
