Hi

I'm sooo glad I found this site. My husband and I have been talking about raising chickens for a few years now and educating ourselves as best we can. A co-worker who's raised chickens for 20+ years and hatches about every 3 years, offered to hatch a few extra for us, so we finally took the plunge. Since April, we have been the proud owners of 10 beautiful mutt hens from hardy stock. I'm looking forward to meeting other BYC members and sharing experiences along the way.

"Like-minded" is the keyword. I put off doing it for so long because of "what the neighbors might think" even though we checked the ordinances and the only restriction was NO roosters. Surprisingly, when we dropped the bombshell on the neighbors they were actually interested and envious (apparently he's wanted chickens for awhile too). He comes over to check them out and told us...he's waiting, watching, and learning...as we learn from our mistakes. So he knows EXACTLY what to do when he gets his own. All this time wasted...I could have had chickens years ago...too funny.
