(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Hello, no, I'm not new to having chickens. We've had them for about a decade now. We've also had several sets of meat birds, turkeys, and guinea birds.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 6 egg layers at the moment
(3) What breeds do you have?
Astralorps, Ameraucanas, Brahma
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Our kids really enjoy them. They are fun to watch and are part of the family. Of course their eggs are a nice benefit.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Sadly, I don't have any hobbies anymore. It seems I've lost interest in things over the past couple of years.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We are a family of 4 who live in a small rural town in the mitten. We have a cat and a snapping turtle as pets at the moment. I work as a virtual assistant, which came in handy during the pandemic as I was already working from home.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found this site years ago when we had our first flock. I needed assistance because we were having heating issues at the time. I seem to always be searching up something here, so I decided to join. I wish I had done it years ago. I'm hoping to learn more about Right to Farm, and to make new friends. Thanks for having me.
