Hello all, I am a new chicken owner. I bought six production red pullets from Tractor Supply four months ago. Everything was going along fine until two days ago. One of the pullets (we call her dorky) started attacking the other pullets. I did bring the injured one inside and cleaned her wounds and then I put her back in the coop and I pulled out dorky and isolated her in a large crate in the house. All of the girls in the coop get along fine without her. I did bring dorky outside today and put her with the others while they were free ranging. Dorky was attacking anyone she could get close to, I isolated her again.

I really don't know what to do? All of the girls combs are getting bright red and growing fast so I hope eggs may be coming soon. The girls free range for at least three hours a day, have a large coop, and a run area. I am sure all of my chickens are females, dorky is fine in the house and has never been aggressive towards humans. I have been getting tons of information for months from this site so I figured it's time to join. Thank you for the help!

! Pleased you joined us! Sorry Dorky is being such a menace. Usually with pecking order squabbles, once dominance is established it ends there - not sure why she is continuing to be so aggressive. You might try isolating her for a longer period. If she returns as the 'newcomer' she may not take her (and mean) position at the top. You might also want to post in the link below for more ideas. Best of luck to you!

Dorky (my avatar picture) is the aggressive pullet, all of the other girls are getting along fine without her. The injured pullet was cleaned up and put back in the coop with no problems from the other girls. Dorky has been isolated for two days, I tried to let her free range with the other girls today but, she went nuts and attacked everyone. She is by herself again, I thought maybe the bad behavior is due to hormone issues related to egg laying? I'm trying my best, everyone told me chicken were easy I think they were wrong.

Dorky seems to be an unusual case - this isn't normal for chickens. If she doesn't mend her ways I agree with drumstick diva....rehome or crock pot.
