Hello- new member

Hello everyone. I have been reading your posts for a few weeks for advice on raising my new chickies and building our coop. I really appreciate this forum, as I have had so many questions I was able to find the answer to by searching the forum!

Now I decided I should probably say hello.

My name is Laura. My husband John and I live in the middle area of North Carolina, and we are brand new to raising chickens. Our babies are 4 1/2 weeks old and their names are Lucy, Ethel, and Charlotte. They are all three black Australorps Our coop is almost finished (finally!). We also have an 11-yr old son, Alex; a 9 year-old collie who is obsessed with staring at the chicks; and also two cats.

Now for the bragging pics:

Here are the chicks on their first time outside at about a week old (very warm day!)

Here they are the same day with the dog, Sable, staring at them (as always):

Here they are last Friday (Sable still staring of course):

Sable really loves them very much!

We're glad you're here and those pictures of your dog with your babies are awsome!!! I have 2 Bl Australorps - 4 and a half weeks old. Mine hatched on April 22. Aren't they fun???

Yes they are fun! I think mine were born either Apr 21 or 22nd. I bought them on Apr 24, the day they arrived at the store. I'd love to try hatching next!
