Hey everyone I am new at this whole chickens thing lol but very excited to get started. So far I am interested in raising some Plymouth rocks or silverlaced wyandottes both seem suited to my area according to my research. Any advice is really appreciated as I said I am new to chickens :)

X2. The Australorps are especially good layers.

Welcome to BYC!

Australorps are a wonderful breed to keep, as are the Barred Rocks. Both are very good layers, docile and friendly. My Black Australorps are huge on lap sitting. Can't sit anywhere with out a chicken on my lap!

Mountain Peeps has left you with some great links to follow. Which ever breed you chose, enjoy all your poultry adventures!

Thanks everyone :) and thanks mountain peeps for all the links I really liked the information and I never considers some of those chickens I really liked the look of the speckled Sussex might consider those instead and I think I will stay away from the wyandottes until I get some more experience :)
