We have 6 week old New Hampshire Reds(5) Buff Orpingtons (6) Gold Laced Bantams (5)
We have 4 week old Barred Rock Bantams (3) White Leghorn (1) Bantam with Chipmunk stripes (1)
22 in our family all together purchased from a local TSC...just build our coop out of old wood from a previous deck... we transformed the trampoline into an enclosed playpen for shade/protection during the day and fenced area for when we are home to supervise. We have 6 nest boxes that are closed off for the time being, we have a hatch on the outside of our coop for egg retrieval and a clean out hatch on the other side of the coop for easy cleaning. The roosts on the inside are made from cedar tree limbs and one connects over to the ledge under the window so they can look outside and be nosy of course. We have never had chickens before. Mostly want them for eggs and bug control, but the free entertainment we have already had has been priceless. We've been feeding them medicated chick starter a few had pasty butt after we 1st got them but we got that cleared up pretty quick. They love bread crumbs, meal worms, sunflower seeds and strawberries. Can't wait to get to know more chicken lovers here!
