Hello my name is Michael, my wife kids and I are planning on starting a chicken coop this spring. We are wildly excited as well as a bit nervous. What are some good things to know to start off? Also I’m thinking of getting a few chickens to feed us aside from laying eggs. What are some great Recommendations? Just the thought of raising a chicken and then using it for food seems a little off to me so I could definitely use some insight.

Hi Michael and welcome to BYC. NFC has given you the best link that will help you, imo.

This is a useful link of BYC guides to take a look at announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3 I’d suggest including your location using the guide in that link. You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Best wishes
