Looking for help with my chickens...also with breed. Bought eggs from a local market
to put under my hen a year or so ago and now have this beautiful black hen. She is super
broody...would say she's comparitive To a banty. As soon as she's done raising one clutch
she's on To The next. If we start removing The eggs for use...she moves her nest. She's one
of The bossiest of my whole flock. Would love To have more like her as she is super mom!
Sumatra? Or do Sumatra's have black skin as well?

How do I upload a pic? Tried over and over but won't upload...made pic 50% smaller a still won't...help!

Glad you could join the flock! I'm afraid don't keep Sumatra so can't be of help to you on that. If you type in Sumatra in the search box above there are threads all about them. I'm more than sure lots of other members will be able to help you.

Even super broodies need a break, they generally get thin and worn out after consecutive broody spells.

Does she take good care of herself when broody? By that I mean does she steal away to eat and drink well, and have some free time before she goes back to nest? If she is the type that won't leave the best either you have to put her off, or have feed and water close to her. Some broodies do starve to death they are so devoted to staying put.
