I couldn't find much with the search on calibrating a probeless digital thermometer? I have two that have drastically different readings, and they have a reset button, but what do I do?

They can't go in boiling water, and they cant go in freezing water? Right now I'm trying snow but I don't know if that'd work or not. Advice would be very greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I have 2 fluker's that rarely agree. Especially after a hatch when I wash them

Take them apart, let them dry completely. (get rid of dust & stuff)

Then, to test them, stick them in the fridge. You can put a couple of food thermometers in there too--figure out what the spread is on the errors.

I used to work with the USDA. We calibrate all thermometers by using this method. Fill a regular size cup with 3/4 water. add ice to fill. Not so much you cant stir. place thermometer in water and stir fir a few minutes. It should read 32. if not then it needs to be calibrated. Even though I know water freezes at 32. But this is the method perscribed by The USDA. Stir for a few minutes with out most of ice melting. It should still have alot of ice left. constant stirring keeps water moving and will as close to 32 as is possible to obtain without actually freezing. The constant agitation keeps the temp constant. If you stop, within a sew seconds the temp begins to rise. This should get you to within a few tenths of a degree. Not perfect on but as close as you can get!
