Hello all! I'm new to this site and have been thoroughly enjoying perusing the site which I found when searching for info about our chickens. I was born and raised on a dairy where we had a variety of chickens, ducks, geese, guineas, just about everything else at one point or another. About 12 years ago, we moved to Florida where my grandmother and I didn't have the room for the tons of livestock we were accustomed to.

A few years ago, we found an abandoned Muscovy on the side of the road near our house and, well, birds are social animals and we couldn't just leave it all by itself, right? Yeah, it didn't take long and we were drowning in duckies. Then my sister and mother moved in and brought a few of their chicks. After that things went downhill. We got a few guineas and my grandmother took pity on a lonely little gosling at the feed store and again we couldn't leave the poor thing alone.

So, now we have about 17 chickens, 6 guineas, and 2 geese. Not to mention quite a few Muscovies. We have no idea what breed my mom's chickens are, all we know is that they have some game in them but aren't pure anything. There are 4 of those, a pair of Bantam Cochins, a pair of Brahmas, a pair of Buff Orpingtons, another pair of bantams but we're not sure what type, an American Game hen, a Rhode Island Red and 3 chickies that are from the mutts and the Game hen.

My grandmother also rides Paso Finos, when she's not trying to add to the collection of critters and I enjoy making jewelry and doing various crafts.

I look forward to swapping info and stories with everyone!

AlienChick I'm actually from Culpeper, Va so, how're things up there? Oooo....wait til I tell my Grandmother about the poultry swap. Won't be able to make it to today's but I'll look into the one in Ocala. Thanks again, for the warm greetings!
