Hello there, Im a newbie from California help

Hi, I am just starting out and have had 2 hens and 3 chicks... well 2 chickens and a roo for a few months. Bought the younger ones at 3 weeks and I think he is fertilizing the eggs.My hens lay eggs in a spot while free range in the yard. I have a very old incubater but should I just leave the eggs alone til I figure it out? Also, what range of temp outside is preferable for the chichens and the eggs? If I collect the eggs can the be put in fridge til I have enough then add to incubater? Gosh, I have soo many questions.. But I am chicken obecssed and so is my 9 year old daughter. Please help.
