Hi all, my name is Gui and I recently got chicks so I decided to check out this forum. I have been around chickens for many years now due to work but not until this spring did I get my very own flock. I have 8 cute golden comets, and they have been enjoying life so far out here. I have a nice little coop for them but recently splurged and got a really nice amish coop (the other one was not that great build quality). I am fairly busy, or else I would of loved to tackle building my own coop. I frankly do not know the age of my girls, but my best guess is that they are about 11-12 weeks old at this point. A few more weeks to go and I will have eggs!
The reason I love to raise chickens is 1) It allows for some chickens to live a happy, healthy and normal life, and 2) Allows me to contribute less to the horrible factory farms. I also just love watching them all play and getting to know each of them individually. They are very fun animals.
Outside of chickens I am an avid rock climber and love the outdoors. I try to spend all my free time outside and this goes hand in hand with raising chickens. I do not have a job right now as I am in the midst of a career change.
I found this community years back but decided to join since I have chicks of my own now and need to learn as much as possible. I look forward to learning more about chickens and chatting with you all!
