(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Actually haven't had chickens yet, but working on persuading my father to allow us to get layers. It helps that my mother wants them too.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 0 :(

(3) What breeds do you have? Looking at Americana.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Through BackYardHerds.com

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I raise rabbits and llamas for 4-H/show.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I have a dog (purebred Brittany), just about 10 barn cats, rabbits (Havana, Mini Rex, Holland Lop, Mini Lop, and a Rex mix), 5 llamas.

As for people, my parents, my older brother (moved out), my sister, and younger brother.

And I work at Runnings (Fleet and Farm).

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Raising Llamas sounds like an exciting hobby. Do they ever spit on you? Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting some Ameraucanas.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Wishing you the very best of luck in getting some Ameraucanas. Raising chickens is a fantastic hobby and lots of fun. Raising Llamas does sound very interesting it's not an animal I've ever experienced close up.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy BYC, I am sure you will everyone here to help and very friendly :frow

Welcome to Backyard chickens. Several years ago, there was a Llama farm about a mile away. I used to walk past it often. Now and then the owner would walk one on a lead it was really neat to see one so close up. She moved away when the property taxes got too high. So far, nothing has been built at the site.

I've been spit on, but only because I was in the crossfire. They really only spit at each other at dinner time or at predators.

Thanks for welcoming me (directed at everyone). I'm sure I'll get them soon and I've already read up on a few threads on here about raising chicks.

And I actually forgot to mention that I did raise ducks last year. Somehow my family got "stuck" with 11 ducklings (6 pekin, 5 swedish), so I've had some poultry experience. They were for our county fair's Farmyard (petting zoo with farm animals) and no one else on the fairboard would take them. So we got them (my dad is on fairboard).

You're welcome. I bet after that happens a time or two you learn pretty quickly to stay out of the crossfire. :o)
