Hi there... My family and I are brand new (as of 2 weeks ago) to owning chickens and we are located in the PNW. We have talked about it for a few years now and finally made the decision to go for it. We found 6 chicks locally through a family who's younger child is working towards becoming a 4H member and is hatching chicks as their project. We are unaware of what the breeds are and add of now have no clue if they are hens or not! We are dying to find out if any are roos or not as we need to figure out where to take them if they are as we are not allowed roosters. I have built a coop that is near completion but I am struggling in how to build the run that will be attached to the coop with an access gate somehow. We have am area in the corner of our back yard that I'm hoping to make their space until they get old enough to freely roam the backyard.
