Hello everyone! I'm new to byc and had a few questions. Why does my hen lay out side of the coop? And can I buy chickens off of this website through someone?

Welcome to BYC. Sometimes at the beginning of a laying cycle young hens will just drop their eggs anywhere. Do you have nesting materials in the nest boxes? Go to the 'Buy, Sell, Trade' forum to locate birds for sale.

Thank you! And I found her nesting in the woods under a bunch of brush. She had about 8 eggs under there! As soon as I let the chickens out of the coop to free range, my 10 month old hen will run right into the woods and go lay another egg. Never seen anything like it. Then ten mins later or so she'll come back to drink and eat. She is funny.
