Hey, I'm new here. Live in North Carolina. Not so new to chickens, we raised fryers when I was growing up and had 6 chicken houses, but new to raising layers (which I've learned is a whole different ballgame). But, I've done my research and have them well equipped and they are quite happy and spoiled. Haven't started laying yet, but expected to start soon maybe? I chose to raise Buff Orpingtons. I have 15 Hens and 2 Cockerels. Hope to make some friends here and share some stories and insight! Just joined today, so I don't think it will let me post pictures of my flock yet.

Thanks! They are quite the entertainment for me. My Cockerels would not make a sound until I sat with them every morning teaching them how to "crow". I was beginning to think they would never actually crow and i turned my back and one finally did. Now they hardly shut up. Lol.

Welcome to BYC! It's great to have you. Those are some truly gorgeous Orps you have there. I've found most Orps start to lay at 6-7 months of age.
Mine probably won't start laying until October. That's about when I was expecting anyways. Love having them around.

Welcome to BYC, love your buff orps. AND your avatar, I think I saw him back in the good old 70's- lol. I'm sure he has quite a story to go with his outfit.
