Hi! Our names are Bob and Amy Clark. We live in New Mexico and got our first chickens a year ago Easter. They are so much fun! We started with 11 babies (including a Cayuga duck) and have grown to 18 (they are so hard to resist when you go to the feed store!) We have quite a mix. Last year's were: 2 Marans, 2 Silver-laced Wyandottes, 1 Black Australorp, 2 Easter Eggers, 2 unknowns (which turned out to be the absolute BEST, Old English Game fowl, tame as puppies and LOVE to be held), the Cayuga duck, and 1 Silkie. Unfortunately, 2 of them (Australorp and one of the Wyandottes) turned out to be roosters and they had to be rehomed. No more straight run for us! Since then we've added: 2 Jersey Giants, 2 55 Flowery, 1 Buff Orpington, and 2 Olive Eggers.
We love all sorts of animals and our home has included in recent years 7 dogs, 2 cats, 2 Corn snakes, a bearded dragon, 1 Horny toad, 2 conures, multiple cockatiels, and the chickens. We have 6 adult children and one grandchild. We live right in the middle of town on a not-so-big lot, so we are in the process of buying a house in the mountains with more space for our ever-growing family.
I'd like to say we have other hobbies (we enjoy games of all types; pool, bridge (cards in general), Ultimate frisbee, word games, you name it) and we love to garden, but truly, the animals take up a lot of our time.
