Greeting from Duncott, PA ( Cass Township ) We're the Noon family. We live in the heart of hard coal region of NE PA. We have 12 chickens (10 hens 2 roosters). I found the site while doing some research about the recent eclipse and chicken behavior. I'd like to thank those that responded to the question about roosting behavior. Our's went their normal routine. Looking forward to being a part of the backyard chicken community.

Hi and welcome to BYC :frow Well my birds did exactly what they do when a storm rolls in... Roost under their shelters... But my ducks went out to frolic and the rain and went into a panic when we reached totality. They immediately returned to their shelter. Again welcome and we're so glad you joined us:ya

Welcome! I'm also a Pennsylvania-ite. Born in Hazelton......not sure where you are but must be close as my grandad was a coal miner. Had a flock many years ago, in Oklahoma........whole other story, but am now back in NW PA, Edinboro. Just 20 minutes south or Erie.
Right now I am looking for a Bantam Buff Orpington to keep as a pet indoors, with an outdoor pen for daily outside time. Where I rent, I am not able to have a small flock or the rescue donkey I want, so until then, I want a little one. They are so friendly and smart.
Hope you enjoy the community. I'm new too and read alot on here!!!
