Hello, great to be hear. I'm in Northeast Tennessee and just started raising chickens last spring. Started with 6 and as of yesterday am down to 3. I think my nephew and his sister let one out when they where smaller, I raised them from chicks, then one died about 2 months ago, not sure why and as of yesterday one got out and has never returned and can't find a sign of her any where. I will be getting more this spring as we where going to enlarge our flock anyway. We also have dogs. I raise a small garden and a small flower garden, used to hunt and fish but since the triple bypass in Aug. don't really do that anymore. well sorry for the big post, will fill in more info later. Thanks for accepting me.

Hi and welcome to BYC. It may be an idea to secure your coop / run before you get more birds. This forum is interesting- https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/coop-run-design-construction-maintenance.9/ and this - https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/predators-and-pests.13/

Here’s a link to the Articles section - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/ There you’ll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping chickens - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs.

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

:welcome

Sorry for the loss of some of your chickens. Maybe fortifying your coop and run is the answer (Pork Pie Ken has given you some good links to check out).

Best of luck to you and thanks for joining us!
