I am a new chicken owner with 5 years of experience. I currently have 4 Icelandic hens who are free range yard chickens. I have had several other varieties in past years, but thought I'd try this variety (breed) this year. I am retired and spend about 4 winter months traveling, so the chickens I have stay with us for about 8 months. I then give them to a local farmer before heading to warm places and replace them each spring upon my return home.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.
