Hello!
My name is Holly and I am 30 years old and live in Bedfordshire, UK. My family have had chickens since before I was born (my grandad was a farmer) and recently I have become more and more involved with my parents' small flock, adding 6 of my own ex-caged rescue hens the weekend before last. Currently we have 18 hens (inc. the new 6) and 1 cockerel.
Our hens are a mix of breeds and not all have names. Our cockerel, Olaf, is a Cuckoo Maran I believe. My new rescue hens are Helga, Astrid, Ragnhild, Frida, Ingrid and Runa - a photo of me and Frida is attached. I can't wait to see her looking better after a few months of care.
My other hobbies include horse riding, netball and cooking/baking. I love nature and the outdoors. At my family home we also have 2 horses, 2 ponies, 4 cats, 4 ducks and currently 2 abandoned goslings. I also have a rescue cat at home in my flat down the road. I am a travel agent by trade, specialising in horse riding holidays around the world, and it's a family business run from the family home. Luckily for me that means I can pop and see the chickens throughout the day.
I look forward to following posts on here and getting to know some of you and your chickens.
