Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've never had chickens, but I am incubating coturnix quail eggs right now. 60 to be exact. I am on day 3 and so impatient for them to hatch. The next 15 or so days is going to be so hard! I got a dozen each: jumbo pharaoh, white, tuxedo (asst colors), silver, and celedon eggs (asst).
I also hope to get chickens some day, but I need a bigger yard first XD
How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I have been lurking for about a month, reading about quail. Found through google searches about quail.
What are some of your other hobbies?
I spend a good deal of my free time playing video games, gardening, and hanging out with my various pets.
Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Me and my family are very much interested in homesteading when we can manage to purchase a piece of land. In the meantime, I do what gardening I can to help feed us in between running a couple small businesses. My boyfriend of almost 2 years is in college for computer science and will be graduating in the spring, so that is really exciting and opens up options of where we can look for land. I have two teenage boys, 14 and 18, and they both are great with animals and plants as well. My oldest son may be a little TOO good with plants, his first attempt at gardening he grew some zinnias from seed and they got so very tall and huge. One ended up breaking somehow, so he cut the stem and stuck it in some water and it's regrown roots and been replanted and doing great. We have 4 cats, 2 of which are sphynx, the other two were rescues. We have a green cheek conure as well. That's it right at the moment, but I'm looking forward to having more room for more critters someday
