We finally just bought our first acreage after waiting patiently for over 10 years. My husband was active duty army, so we just weren’t able to make our dream a reality until now. We recently adopted my family’s birds, as well as some chickens from a friend. We currently have 5 ducks, 5 chickens, and a goose. We are also expecting 6 ducklings that are about to hatch in a few days!

I honestly am not sure what breed most of our birds are, but I know we have 2 fawn and white Indian runners (possibly 3).. and our goose is a Chinese goose.

We are a homeschool family, so we are excited about all the hands on education the kids will receive through our small farm experiences. They get to help a lot with the animals, which they are loving so far. We also plan to get more animals in the future. For now, it’s just the birds, our 2 dogs, and a cat. Someday we will have goats and horses.

As you all know, this farm life is a learning experience, so I’m excited to join the backyard chickens forum as I’m sure I will have many questions along the way!
