Him, my name is Laurie. I started my backyard flock as a part of a science project for my kids. I homeschool and we hatched eggs from a hatchery which was, for the most part successful. The least successful part was that I was supposed to give the chicks to my neighbor after they were big enough to be outside. Oops. So that started us with 5, 3 hens and 2 roosters. They are all Easter Eggers and the girls are all producing eggs for us now. So far it all has been easy raising them. Until this past week (see post in emergencies entitled "Help, I don't know what is wrong with my rooster"). Love them and now have 5 more chicks that are about 2 weeks old. I got them before the sickness in my rooster and thought integrating them once the chicks were older would be straightforward based on my research. But now I am not sure how that is going to go. I have several weeks before I need to worry over that.
