What started as 4 chickens last year has now grown to 15. We never thought we would love them as much as we do.

I'm always doing research and trying to find better ways to make our chickens happy.

I appreciate an insight and guidance as we ate learning everyday.
 
Welcome to Backyard Chickens. Chicken math was not addressed in schools but, should have been. Some important points to remember:

Bantam breeds of chicken only count as 1/2 chicken per bird.
Baby chicks don't count at all because they don't stand still long enough to be counted.
Only pullets/hens are counted because most folks do not want cockerels/roosters.
Eggs under a broody hen do not count because they aren't hatched yet.
