I'm new, just started raising chickens as a hobby back in September. A friend of mine got me started by giving me 3 hens and a rooster and I purchased 3 guineas at a swap. I no longer have the guineas or the rooster but I have added 9 more hens.

I have a barred rock hen, a scissor beaked Wyandotte hen, 5 RIR pullets and 4 ISA brown hens. I love getting to know their personalities and learning their habits. They are fun to watch, I could spend hours just hanging out with them in their coop!

I am a stay at he Mom to two boys, 7 years and 17 months old. I crochet in my spare time; mostly gifts for friends and making baby blankets for their newest additions. I am also a freelance makeup artist with a background in retail sales/management. Our family also has a beagle mix who is 10 years old named Sadie Jane. She's my favorite member of the family

I'm hoping to learn as much as I can from all of you with so much more experience and knowledge than I. I'm excited to share a newfound passion of mine with others who are just as enthusiastic.

Nice to meet you Emily. Thank you for joining us at Backyard Chickens. When I was pg, my mother and I hoped I'd have twins. We decided if they were girls it would be Emily & Elena.
Turned out to be one boy. He's 34 now and I love him to the moon and beyond.
