I'm new to chickens. I've had pet ducks, guinea pigs, cats, and dogs, but never chickens. When I joined this site 5 years ago, I had six ducks.
My husband and I moved to 7.4 acres in the spring of 2014. We have a blended family of 7 grown kids and 23 grand kids. I'd like our grandchildren and I to be able to hold and pet the chickens. So, in my reading I'd like some Orpingtons and maybe one other breed that is friendly and lays well.
I've been studying up and finally bought a coup and run and am getting ready to get some chicks.
