I am a not so new, come and go member of backyard chickens. I currently have 5 eastereggers and we are doing well. I've had a few different flocks in the past. When they have been killed off by predators, mostly hungry racoons, I've taken breaks. These are truely backyard chickens. I live in Clark County, Washington and would love to hear from other folks in my neck of the woods, so to speak. This is my brand of pets, I guess. I keep them well fed and watered and spend time with them outside and they provide me with eggs. Because I live in city limits, I can not have a roo, although I'm not sure I'd want one most of the time anyway. Just this year, we've set up a chicken yard. In the past, I've given them the run of the backyard, which I generally regret. They will dig up any patch of bare earth and whatever is planted nearby.
