Hello,
I've been interested in chickens a long time, but just took the leap about 3 weeks ago and currently have 4 chicks. They came from Tractor Supply and they were advertised as Golden Comets but after a few days of looking at the forums, I quickly realized I didn't have Golden Comets. The sex-linked chicks were appealing because I didn't want roosters at this point. After posting a few photos of the chicks, I learned I most likely have olive eggers. Hopefully they will all be hens at least! This site has been a great resource, and I'm excited about continuing to learn so I can contribute as well. I am also thankful for all the advice that got me started on the right foot with healthy, happy chicks that are a pleasure to take care of.
I live in north Alabama just outside of Huntsville, home of Space Camp and many aerospace companies. Even though it is now the largest city in Alabama, we are fortunate to have a lot agricultural areas left around the city. I spent a lot of time as a child on my grandparents farm, and hope to be able to pass some of that experience on to my children.
