H! This is my third year raising chickens and my first time hatching. We started small when we first got chickens with only 4. Last summer we were left with only one so we decided to get 4 more to keep her company. She ended up not liking them and decided living with the neighbors chickens would be the better life  She does still come to visit and get treats though. We have 2 hens and one rooster. We had to put one of the roosters down a couple months ago due to him being very aggressive with people. I have a small family daycare and we live across the road from an elementary school. We were afraid he would hurt one of the kids or parents. My first time hatching I had 6 eggs to put it. Four of them hatched. 3 are very healthy and active. One had some struggles and is unable to walk because of her legs being kind of crossed. We are nursing her, trying to keep her healthy. She does not seem to be in stress or pain. We will see how it goes. We have a dog that tries to play with the bigger chickens, but will not even look at the chicks. We also have a cat that guards the chickens at night. He will stroll out to check on the coop and fights off anything that comes in the yard. I have seen him chase off another cat and he also go into a fight with a gray fox that was hanging around.
