Hi everyone!
I live on the south east course of Florida where it is EXTREMELY hot and muggy out this time of the year. I got chickens about a year ago and recently got 2 silkies (which I believe were sick when I got them. Which is what brought me here- more on that in a minute lol). Besides the chickens I have goats and dogs. I’m glad to be here!

One of my little silkies was found in the coop last week almost unresponsive and wouldn’t keep her head up. I brought her inside the porch with a fan on her, gave her honey, water, and thinking it was maybe heat related. I was able to run to the store and get her powdered electrolytes with vitamin at selenium the next day. I’ve also been giving her the “Vet RX” which was recommended by the person at tractor supply. She still will not eat or drink on her own and has lost weight and will barely stand. At first she was very very weak and could barely keep her head upset or eyes open. Seems like she got better for a couple of days But is declining again. Any thoughts are appreciated !

Hello and Welcome to BYC! Glad that you joined us. I would certainly keep trying to get fluids in her. Even with an eye dropper until she will drink on her own. Honey water or sugar water shouldn't hurt a thing. She needs energy to keep her heart beating.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Do you know how old she is or at least how old you were told she was?
Have you felt between her legs for the buildup of any kind of fluid?
Have you checked her for external parasites? What does her poop look like?
When was the last time she laid an egg?
You might want to start a new thread in the ER Forum for additional help. Good luck with her.

Welcome to BYC!
So sorry to hear about your hen. :hugs I see you've post in the ER section. Hopefully you'll get some help there. For now, keep trying to get fluids in her. Try giving her raw egg yolk so she can get some kind of nourishment.
Thank you for responding! She passed away this morning and I’m sad I couldn’t save her 😞
