Hello BYC! I’m an individual who’s just getting back really into owning birds! Although I’ve had chickens in the past, that was probably a decade ago!
A little about me— I’m not from the USA but, instead, I am Canadian! I live outside a small town nobody’s heard of and have been here since I was a child. I’ve been raised around animals my entire life ranging from cats, to dogs, to horses! In the future, I am looking to study as a vet and take the necessary steps into becoming a wildlife rehabilitator! For the meantime, I partake in my hobbies which include: collecting; fish keeping; drawing; writing; fishing; and obviously, poultry!
My flock is small but will grow as time goes on. Two months ago, I made the purchase of 6 plymouth barred rock chicks. Unfortunately, an issue with a raccoon caused the loss of 5 with one hen—named Peep—being left alone with my 3 year old rooster, Skywarp! These two roam our property freely as our predator count has decreased significantly with the help of our neighbours. Fairly recently, I’ve picked up 3 new additions: brown chinese goose goslings! A first for me of owning geese and I look forward to learning to provide my birds the best care possible! I look to purchase more chicks in the future with the aim of breeding and selling. Fortunately, my knowledge of chickens runs deeper than waterfowl!
Birds aren’t my only animals on this property. I also keep fish and a singular turtle. I have three 5g tanks all of which have baby predatory fish—yes, they’re small. A 20g has two bluegill in it with the aim to upgrade when I can find a tank fit for them! My turtle is currently in a 5g terrarium due to his size. Being only as big as a toonie—or small coin—any tank bigger would exhaust the little guy!
I suppose that’s enough detail for now! Below I’ll include images of the animals

I hope to meet some people and be able to have my questions answered instead of digging through google!
