Hey everyone! My name is Rachel and I am an aspiring homesteader, homemaker, and homebirth midwife! We have currently moved back into my parents house with my husband, daughters, cat, dog, chickens (we used to have 17 but time and circumstances have moved us down to 6).
This is our second winter with chickens, we raised our flock of 17 from day old hatchlings. Gave some away, one died our first winter, gave some more away, and then moving back into our parent's house meant that we needed to choose our favorites from the flock so here we are with: two ameraucanas (Jenny and Coffee), two barred rocks (Morgan and Theodosia), one whiting true green (Marianne), and one rhode island red (Poppy).
We love having backyard hens because it has provided us an extra source of income, our own eggs, and companions to play with! We all adore the chickens, and they have become my favorite animal by far.
I also sew, and cook, I love crafting! The homestead lifestyle is more than just a trend for me, it literally encompasses everything I enjoy!
I have known about BYC for years, but I finally joined because I have been stalking the forums for info on sick chickens, but I need a little more custom help
