Hello all,

We are new! We just got our first two hens yesterday. (Tallulah and Ethel!)

I have read bits here and there but really am totally in the dark about what I am doing.

We have a large area of green field to the front of our house along the side of the drive way (1/3 acre) and I want to let the two girls out to wander during the day but am worried they will fly over the low fence onto the fairly busy road or maybe that I just wont be able to get them in again when I have to go out during the day!

One is very brave and inquisitive one is quite shy and nervous.

thanks in advance.

from Louisiana!

If they want to get out they will! With just having 2 girls you should be able to lure them back with a treat. Make sure you always give them their goodies inside their coop & run and you shouldn't have any trouble getting them back up! Good luck!

Keep them locked up for the first couple weeks. They will learn that the coop is home, and should return each day at dusk.
As far as escaping, yes they can go over low fences.
