We are new members to BackYard Chickens. My wife and I have been married for over 23 years and have three great boys. We recently bought a tract of land in the country which we hope to slowly turn into a self sufficient farm or at least provide our family with fresh vegetables and now eggs. We are located in the middle Georgia area in Culloden, Georgia. Currently we have 2 dogs (Great dane -Zoey & a border collie-Fancy), 2 Quarter horses (Mom-Whisper and daughter- Breeze), a cat (Phoenix), and 19 chickens on the way in 20 days. We have a friend of the family that has health issues and can no longer care for his 19 chickens. He was going to sell them, but when he found out that we wanted to start raisng chickens for the eggs, he decided to give us his flock. So, I now have 19 days to build a chicken coop to house these gems, while working full time. Since we are new to this, we would love any suggestions, comments, do's and dont's.

Thanks,
Duward & Alleyne Benson

Hi and :welcome from Ohio. So glad you joined. A tip when building the coop, use screws not nails. This way when chicken math comes in, it will be easier to expand. :thumbsup
