Been reading this site for a while now. Finally joined! I'm in Mississippi. Been raising chickens for around 6 or 7 years. After a few years, my wife and I decided to buy French black copper marans. We were hooked on the breed. Been working on our Williamson line ever since. Colors include black, blue, and splash copper. We've incorporated about 6 different lines in our flock and try our best to get all the physical traits right while not losing egg color. Good thing I took Genetics in college! Geez! Who knew it could be this difficult to raise chickens!

Anyway, I love to learn new things regarding chickens and small farms and also enjoy helping others by passing on information I've learned. Glad to be here!

Also, even though our focus is on Marans, we, like many others, have multiple breeds such as silkies, Narragansett turkeys, quail, ringneck pheasant, and others at times. We are pretty big in chicken swaps and auctions in the state and plan to have a part in the first poultry show in Mississippi in over 27 years! Very exciting!

Also NPIP and acquiring farm status as we speak.
