Feel free to ask any questions along the way! We'd love to help!

Just for reference, cochins, buff orps, australorps and silkies are all quiet, friendly laying chickens.

Be sure to check out the helpful links also.

Again, welcome to this community!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Congrats on being able to keep chickens!

Good luck on the coop build and definitely follow the links Mountain Peeps has provided. Especially the one to the learning center. Lots of good articles on all the aspects of keeping poultry.

Enjoy this new adventure you are on and welcome to our flock!

We've looked at buff orpingtons but we're not particular.
Welcome to BYC, Kaite. Glad you decided to join our flock. I've raised Buff Orpingtons for years and they are a wonderful breed; very hardy, friendly and gentle (my children, and now my granddaughter, made lap pets of ours), and good layers of large, brown eggs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your coop built and getting your flock.
