Hello all.
Around a year ago our city opted to allow people to keep up to 3 hens in their backyards, since then I read everything I could get my hands on, then about 9 weeks ago it was time to renew our lease. So, fully expecting to be told no, I asked my landlord if I could pay a pet deposit and get a chicken, much to my surprise not only did she say yes but also said no pet deposit was needed AND I should get 2. I have the COOLEST landlord!
We stopped at the closest feed store and, among others, they had 4 day old Buff Orpington chicks. My fiancee picked one (Pancake) and a smaller one (Scrambles) came running out after her so those were the 2 we brought home.
I absolutely adore my girls! And look forward to learning more about raising happy healthy chickens from all you lovely chicken veterans.
