Hi! I'm Kati, and I'm a recent transplant to country life. I'm from Cleveland, OH but my husband spent much of childhood and young adulthood in the country, so we decided to move back to where we can spread out and have all the animals we want. We've decided to start with chickens. Our first batch of 12 is a surprise pack ... we have no idea what they are. Our second dozen are Buff Orpingtons, and our third batch is 7 Barred Rock and 7 Jersey Giants. We have a friend who raises Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and she's currently in the process of hatching some for us. I'm excited for all our chickens to get big and roam the yard. Our children love helping us take care of them and spending time with them.

and have picked some very nice breeds. When your "surprise pack," is 6 weeks old or so, you may want to post photos at "what breed or gender is this." to discover what surprises you have.
