I live in Louisiana and since I live out in the country I decided to start raising chickens for eggs. I went all in and bought 20 total (5 Black Astralorps, 5 Production Reds, 5 Rhode Island Reds and 5 Americaunas). my wife and I are already enjoying are new babies and have a lot to learn. Thank goodness for this Backyard Chicken website. I just finished building the coop and will share a photo of it once I figure out how.

It's almost done.keep in mind that I'm in no way a carpenter. I basically just started putting things together. I hope it looks okay.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. I've had all of those breeds at one time or another over the years, and you have some very good layers. Black Australorps are my favorite, standard breed. I've raised them for years and they are extremely hardy, calm and gentle (my children and granddaughter made lap pets of them), and excellent layers of large, brown eggs.
