Hello!

I have two day old chickens. One Light Brahma, SLW, AA, and two jumbo cornish. My LB is really picking on my JC!! Only going after their poor eyes! And she's not picking on the others. Right now I have moved my JC into my duck brooder, and everyone has mellowed out a lot. Is this a bad idea, or what should I do??

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! If she is not picking on the other ones you plan to keep (assume the JCs will be processed) I'd do what you did and take out/ separate out the JCs out and leave the others together... if you want to combine the chicks later again (instead of just raising the JCs with the ducks until they are old enough to process), I would try to divide the chick brooder for now and see every couple of days if the LB will stop picking on the JCs.

Welcome to Backyard chickens, sounds like your solved your own problem. Poor meaties are best raised separately, they hog the feeders - and will literally eat themselves to death if given the chance.
