Hello I just started with 6 chicks about 4 months ago. We lost one after a few weeks but the other 5 have grown into some really spoiled chickens. I guess I have more money in them than I will ever get back out, but since the primary purpose of getting them was to bring some enjoyment to my elderly mother who had a pretty serious stroke a little over a year ago, and they have certainly done that then I have to say so far it has been well worth any cost. Hopefully I will never need any advice but it is nice to have somewhere to turn if it is needed.

Welcome to BYC!

I'm sorry about your mother's stroke, I hope she is feeling better. And I'm glad you are all enjoying your chickens!

Feel free to ask any questions (health, behavior, anything), or just chat about your chickens!

Best of luck!

I am so glad you have joined us. Congrats on getting your own flock.

Hope your mom is doing better and enjoying the chicks. That was a really sweet thing to do for her.

Best wishes to you all.

sunflour I am guessing you have seen how much chickens love sunflower seeds mine get that "treat" before bedtime just about every night. Thank you both for the welcome to the site. I will try to check in as I can.

Chickens are great therapy, they are even starting to have "chicken visits," to nursing homes. Many of the older patients recall having chickens when they were growing up. Watching chicken TV is very entertaining, no reruns, life shows every day, no cable or satellite bills. Hope your mom will make good stride toward her recovery.
