Hello all from Washington state! I've been reading threads from this site for quite a while now and decided it was time to join the conversation! I'm fairly new to chickens, we had a few several years ago and had to re-home them because we were severely un-prepared and living amongst neighbors who didn't appreciate them the way we did
. Now we have land and room and FINALLY chickens!! We bought a small farm that came with 10 chickens and this past fall purchased 6 chicks of our own. We also have 3 peking ducks who seem to coexist nicely with our flock. The hens seem to be doing well thanks to all of the advice I've read, and we will be adding some more babies to the flock soon!
This seems like a great community full of knowledge and I look forward to getting to know some fellow flockers! my next goal is to revamp the coops (we built a second one right next to the first one to accommodate more birds) by opening up the dividing wall and making one big coop, and now after reading threads on nesting boxes, redoing those too! Then I'm hoping to learn how to hatch some babies. The chickens were initially for my kids, 12 and 6, but I think I enjoy them far more than they do
