Love these feathered friends of mine. Only have six old ladies and two Aylesbury ducks atm. I had a bit of a bad run with them during spring last year and lost seven of them for different reasons. I have an 8 year old pecan bantam, a 6 year old rode island red cockerel x, a Plymouth barred rock, a warren and 2 lavender blues. Kept chickens during my teens, when I lived on the family farm and had a 30 year break without any. I’ve since had chickens for the last 10 years and I am always learning about them. They all have different characters (just like people). Some live a short life of 3 years and some a long life like one I lost this year at the age of 9. She had gone blind for a year before she died and was amazing but then went off her legs completely. She will never be forgotten by our family. Our border collie has missed her cos he used to keep watch over her during the day and she used to snuggle into him for security. I am thinking of increasing my stock this year (ducks too) but want to do some travel so not sure when yet. Looking forward to getting some tips and seeing what everyone else is doing with their feathered babies.
