Helmeted Guinea Fowl Colors/Genetics

Most people that have those issues treat their poultry as pets and give them treats in those areas. Then they wonder why the poultry is always hanging around in those areas. Anywhere the poultry congregate will be where lots of droppings are found.

I don't treat any of my poultry as pets and do not have problems with them hanging around where I don't want them.

That is good to hear. I have no plans to feed them where we will hang out. Only in their run or coop. Hopefully that will help.

but how tall is your fence? Does it keep everyone in?
Just curious because we will be making a run with the same fencing 6’ high. I’m hoping it will be tall enough to contain chickens and turkeys.

My fence is five feet tall. I hate working with the six foot rolls. They are soooo heavy. And since I'm usually doing all the fencing by myself I opted for the more manageable roll height. Anyway, since the tom has matured he's stayed put. When he was younger in a larger pen he would fly up onto stuff and clear the fence. The smallest turkey hen made it into the middle pen off their roost poles before I put up the netting in the barn to keep fence hoppers where they belonged. And one guinea made it from the middle pen to the turkey's pen. I have no idea how that happened and it hasn't happened again. I should mention the guineas and the turkey hens are clipped. So we'll see how they do once their wings grow back in.

Also my Orpingtons couldn't clear a five foot fence if their lives depended on it. lol They aren't big climbers.

My experience with turkeys with clipped wings is that it does not stop them from easily jumping up 6' in the air. The other thing with turkeys and clipped wings, one time usually does the trick. By the time the flight feathers grow back, they have usually forgotten how to fly.

Guineas with clipped wings can easily climb a fence as high as they want to go. Unlike turkeys, guineas do remember that they can fly.
