How rare are hey in the USA? And what are reasonable prices. I know someone selling them for 500 a pair

You have to define what you mean by helmeted guinea fowl. Standard guinea fowl in the U.S. are helmeted guinea fowl (Numida meleagris) and are common. Adults can sell for as low as $10 or as high as $25 each around here.

I am assuming that you are referring possibly to something else such as Vulturine guinea fowl which are not common and can command high prices.

Not that much for plain helmeted.... But there are different breeds of Helmeted they may be that expensive. I been hunting online for Reichenowis.... They are rarer and mostly in zoos.... There are Crested Guineas but not considered helmeted.

There Are also Vulturine wich will go for 1500 a pair. They are stunning

But my Guineas I bought for 2.50 a piece....as Keets.
