Hey there- I have what I think is a jumbo Pekin named Banksy. She is very sweet and I love her dearly! She is 6 weeks old. Sadly- she is having trouble walking. She has always had a wider stance, since she is so heavy and wide, and at one point there was some bowing (only her not the other three ducks on same feed) which seemed to correct itself with niacin, which she has been on since birth (first in feed then supplemented with brewers yeast). A friend who is a vet (for large animals, so not their speciality) checked her out today and didn’t feel any breaks but her left side is two weak to stand on. I am wondering what to do here? I have been limiting food somewhat, although my other ducklings all share space so I didn’t want to starve them. Should I put her on a diet and if so - what is the success of that, and what would that look like? I have her in a tub in my house to monitor and make sure she can get to water and food. The ducks have not been free ranging yet (one due to age since they are mostly feathered but not fully and two because banksy even had trouble navigating the small lip between the run and the coop so I had to build a ramp and was worried that she couldn’t get to the creek and back very well.) but they do have a good amount of space to move around in the run. I’m not sure I’ve given all the info needed here but would love any advice or questions. Thanks so much!
